IMAP is like webmail such as your Yahoo mail
SMTP and POP are the incoming and outgoing mail which you have with your ISP (Internet Service Providor) such as Virgin, BT or whoever you bought your Internet service from.
Usually, you would choose POP3 rather than IMAP if you want email from your ISP.
Generally you would use the form:
pop.%26lt;your isp name%26gt;.com
and
smtp.%26lt;your isp name%26gt;.com
in Outlook Express and other email settings. for example, if you are with NTL then it would be:
pop.ntlworld.com
and
smtp.ntlworld.com
But go to your ISP website and check what advice they can give you. No-one is intentionally trying to confuse you :P
I would like to Know my email sign in settings please ie, Imap or pop3 and stmp settings along withmy login?
Without knowing who your server is all I can do is this
in the POP3 part you put pop3.yourserver.com (or co.uk)
in the SMTP part you put smtp.yourserver.com (or co.uk)
then account name, its your e-mail address
then your password you decided on.
IMAP is your webmail.
This is for 'Outlook Express' by the way
Any help? others will give advice if I'm in error any way.
